Depending on community need, the mobile vehicle might also provide mental health assessments and referrals for children with special needs. The state of the art vehicles are outfitted with exam rooms and a lab and are staffed by healthcare professionals such as pediatricians, pediatric nurses, social workers, and a range of volunteers.

The CEO of UCR Group, Stephen Reeder oversees the development of buildable, biddable projects, from acquisition through plan-check, to ensure smooth production throughout the pre-construction period. Among his charitable donations, Stephen Reeder contributes to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

The John Wayne Cancer Foundation was created by the family of the iconic movie star to honor his memory. Its mission is to bring strength, courage, and grit to the battle against cancer. It achieves this through multiple initiatives, including funding research and education. Here are three innovative programs at the Foundation.

1. The John Wayne Cancer Institute: Through a partnership with St .John’s Health Center, the JWCI opened in Santa Monica, California, in 1991. It specializes in treating solid tumors through innovative technologies.
2. John Wayne Alumni Fellows Grant Program: The Foundation provides funds to alumni of the JWCI Surgical Oncology Fellowship program to assist them in research. Many of the fellows advance to leadership roles at academic institutions and cancer centers around the U.S.
3. Block the Blaze: Geared toward California junior lifeguards, this program is dedicated to raising awareness of the causes of skin cancer in a partnership with the California Surf Lifesaving Association.

Stephen Reeder is a well established presence in the California real estate sphere who guides the UCR Group and has overseen a number of high profile residential developments. Community involved, Stephen Reeder supports a range of nonprofits in the Redlands area and supports the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

One of the major activities of the foundation involves building awareness of cancer prevention strategies. A team of six interns is traveling across California throughout 2018 as part of the Block the Blaze program and providing youth with sun-safety educational resources.

A recent Redding presentation by Block the Blaze at the Shasta Family YMCA drew attention to a serious situation in which relatively high numbers of Californians are diagnosed with skin cancer compared to people in other states. The team encouraged children to examine moles on their skin as they appear and always apply generous amounts of sunscreen when outdoors. One child named Kennedy highlighted in the presentation successfully self-diagnosed melanoma at age 13 using the A-B-C-D-E mole self-diagnosis technique explained in the program.

Local real estate developer Stephen Reeder serves as chief executive officer of the UCR Group in Redlands, California. Stephen Reeder is involved with Los Angeles homeless shelters, and volunteers to serve meals to those who are homeless.

The Los Angeles Mission is located in the heart of downtown. With 53,000 homeless men, women, and children in L.A., the Mission answers the emergency and transitional needs of people who otherwise would be hungry and exposed, often sleeping in the streets or in abandoned buildings.

In addition to emergency services, such as a warm bed, three hot meals per day, clean clothing, showers, and a temporary safe place to store baggage, the Los Angeles Mission provides for healthcare needs through a partnership with Los Angeles Christian Health Centers.

Recovery and transitional services are important for re-entering the work force, family, and community. Recovery services at the Mission center operate on a faith-based approach to holistic healing, with separate facilities for men and women. The Mission supports decision-making processes and helps students learn practical skills through educational assessment and placement, career and job counseling, mental health recovery, and more.

The Workstart program offers educational and career services to overcome financial, legal, and lack-of-training obstacles to successfully landing a job. From basic skills like creating a resume and filling out a job application, the Mission also helps with interviewing, legal representation, financial support to obtain a certification or degree from a local community or technical college, and supports those looking to become independent and self-sufficient again.

In order to promote healing in personal life as well, the Mission provides the Bridge Program to help reunify families when possible in a healthy, safe, positive way. The Mission also provides parenting classes to support parents in learning good practices for raising their children.
